Big Ride
The most alpine course in the UCI Gravel series
Departing from the World Cycling Center in Aigle, the route takes participants into the heart of the Vaud Alps. The 105-kilometer loop links the Rhone plain to the Col de la Croix, linking gravel sections on idyllic mountain and forest roads with breathtaking panoramic views.
The route begins with an asphalt ascent, before tackling the first gravel slopes on a 4×4 track in the direction of Plambuit, before descending to Ollon. From Antagne, the route follows the Gryonne canal on a gentle downhill slope before heading up the Rhône towards Lavey-les-Bains.
Leaving the plain, the route enters a green forest on the heights of Bex and then joins a rolling section towards the Solalex and Frience refuges.
You'll then head for Taveyanne, a listed hamlet. Shortly before reaching the summit of the Col de la Croix, you branch off towards Ensex, where a pleasant single track followed by a gravel road will take you to the Col de Bretaye, the highest point of this event. After this, a descent on a forest road takes you back to the Col de la Croix road for a short final climb to the pass, where the end of the timer allows you to admire the panorama before returning safely to the resort of Villars to enjoy your Pasta Party and receive your Finisher medal.
